Removals from London to France, Italy, Spain and Portugal.
We drive four routes out of London and nothing else. Whether it is one sofa, a flat’s worth sharing a van, or a whole house on a van of its own, the crew who load it in London are the crew who carry it in at the other end. We do the UK export paperwork and tell you exactly what the customs office at your new home will ask for.
Four routes, each with its own quirks.
- UK to France removals
London to France
The shortest of our four runs, and the one where a single item makes the most sense on its own. UK to France removals go from Paris flats to Dordogne farmhouses and Breton coast towns, and France is also the road every other route starts on. If you are moving to a French village with a narrow lane, tell us at the quote stage and we plan the last stretch around it.
Removals from London to France - removals from London to Italy
London to Italy
Removals from London to Italy cross the Alps, so the north and the south are two different jobs. Milan, the lakes and Tuscany are a long but well-worn road. Rome, Puglia and the islands add distance, ferry legs and old town centres with access permits. We ask for the exact address early, because a hilltop village and a city apartment need different vans for the final stretch.
Removals from London to Italy - moving from UK to Spain
London to Spain
Spain is one of our busiest corridors, which matters if you are moving from UK to Spain with less than a vanload. More households heading the same way means more chances to share space on a run to the costas. Apartment blocks on the Costa del Sol and the Costa Blanca usually have strict rules on lift bookings and moving windows, so we need the community’s rules before the van sets off.
Removals from London to Spain - man and van to Portugal
London to Portugal
Portugal is one of the longest runs we do, which is exactly why a man and van to Portugal is worth asking about if you are only taking a flat’s worth. Lisbon’s steep, narrow streets often mean a smaller vehicle for the final stretch. Porto has granite stairs. The Algarve has gated developments that want paperwork before they open the barrier. We plan for each of those before loading.

How the four routes compare.
All four leave the yard over the Dartford Crossing and head for the Kent coast. After that they split. Prices and timings depend on your inventory and dates, so they live on your written quote rather than this table.
| Country | Route via | Typical crossing | Paperwork on the EU side | Best service type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| France | Straight off the Channel crossing onto the French motorways | Dover ferry or the Folkestone tunnel; a western ferry port where it suits a Brittany or Normandy drop | Transfer-of-residence relief claimed with French customs; proof you are setting up home in France | Any of the three: single item, part load or full van |
| Italy | Through France, then the Fréjus or Mont Blanc tunnel, or the coast road at Ventimiglia | Dover ferry or the Folkestone tunnel, then a ferry from the mainland for Sicily or Sardinia | Transfer-of-residence relief claimed with Italian customs; a codice fiscale makes everything smoother | Full van for a household or the far south; part load for smaller moves to the north |
| Spain | The length of France, then over the Pyrenees into Spain | Dover ferry or the Folkestone tunnel, or a ferry to Santander or Bilbao; a peninsula ferry for the Balearics | Transfer-of-residence relief claimed with Spanish customs; your NIE number and proof of address in Spain | Part load is the natural fit; full van for a house |
| Portugal | Through France and across northern Spain into Portugal | Dover ferry or the Folkestone tunnel, or a ferry to Santander or Bilbao and on through Spain | Transfer-of-residence relief claimed with Portuguese customs; your NIF number comes first | Part load for a flat; full van for a household |
Most runs load in London. Not all of them.
Our yard is at Purfleet-on-Thames in Essex, on the eastern edge of London and a short hop from the Channel ports. That is why London collections are our bread and butter.
On international runs we can also quote for collections from the cities on this list. We will not pretend a pickup in Glasgow costs the same as one in Hackney: a longer UK leg is priced as part of the route, and we tell you if a part load from that far north does not make sense for your move.
-
London
Every borough. This is home turf and where most runs load.
-
Manchester
Quoted as a collection on the way to the coast, not as a separate trip.
-
Birmingham
Close to the motorway spine, so it slots into a southbound run well.
-
Leeds
Quoted case by case, usually for a part load or a full van.
-
Glasgow
The longest UK leg. Worth it for a full van; ask us before assuming a part load.
-
Edinburgh
As with Glasgow, priced honestly as a long collection leg.
-
Bristol
A westward detour before the Channel, quoted as part of the route.

Tell us what is going
Both addresses, a list or photos of the items, and whether your dates can flex. Flexible dates open up shared van space.
-
Get a fixed written quote
Built from your inventory and route. It says what is included, which service fits, and what we need from you on the paperwork side.
-
We handle the export paperwork
The UK export side is ours. We prepare the inventory and tell you what to take to the destination country’s customs to claim relief.
-
Load, drive, deliver
Wrapped and loaded at your door, driven across, and unloaded at the other end by the same crew. No handover to a stranger at the coast.

Moving abroad from London, answered.

Four: France, Italy, Spain and Portugal. Those are the routes we drive and know, and we do not quote for anywhere else. Every one of them can be done as a single item, a part load sharing van space, or a full van.
-
We handle the UK export side and prepare the itemised inventory that customs on both sides want to see. If you are moving to live in France, Italy, Spain or Portugal, household goods can usually come in without duty under transfer-of-residence relief, which you claim with that country’s customs authority. We tell you what documents that office expects, such as your ID, proof of your new address and the inventory, before the van leaves London.
-
Yes, on international runs. We can quote collections from cities such as Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Bristol. The van starts at our yard in Essex, so a collection further north is priced as part of the route. Put the full pickup address on the quote form.
-
A full van is yours alone and goes direct. A part load shares the van with other households heading the same way, which suits smaller moves if your dates can move a little to fit the run.
-
Yes. A sofa, a wardrobe or a few boxes from storage can travel in shared space on any of the four routes. See our single item delivery page for how that works.
-
It depends on the route, whether it is a full van or a part load, and how customs clearance goes. Your written quote includes an estimated window for your move rather than a promise we cannot keep.
